This Standard is to be read in conjunction with NZS 8134.0:2008 Health and disability services (general) Standard which contains the definitions and audit framework information applicable across the health and disability suite. NZS 8134.3 is the result of the first revision of NZS 8142:2001 Infection control. The main intent of Part 3 is to facilitate consistently safe and quality health and disability services, by identifying principles designed to reduce the rate of infections in the health and disability sector. It provides guidance on infection control management, implementing the infection control programme, policies and procedures, education, surveillance, and antimicrobial usage. NZS 8134 Parts 0 to 3 are sold as a loose-leaf set, for use in a binder. Each part can also be purchased separately.
